FAQ

Why can I not Sign Up online?

Our farmers are Old Order Mennonite, and because of that they cannot accept direct deposit directly into their bank account. We hope to have a way to Sign Up online in the future, but at this time we are only able to accept Sign-Up Forms and checks mailed directly to the farm. We apologize for any inconvenience.

What if I don’t have a printer?

No problem! Please write down on a sheet of paper ALL of the information on the Sign-Up Form, an abbreviated version of the CSA Agreement (that is found on the form), and include it with your check when you mail it to the farm (address on the form).

Will my share come pre-packed?

Yes, your share will come pre-packed in a 1/2 bushel box with extras on the side (see 2021 share pictured here). For example, fragile items like quarts of strawberries and heirloom tomatoes will be transported separately on flats for you to pick up in addition to your pre-packed box. Also, watermelons are sent in bins for you to pick up alongside your box.

Do I get to keep the box?

The farmers re-use their boxes, so we do ask you to bring your own bags and unpack your share. We will have tables at the pick-ups. If you wish to keep the box every week, that is an extra $25 box fee.

Can I pick what I get?

We offer a Swap Table where you are allowed to swap anything in your share for anything on the Swap Table. We leave it up to the member to swap fairly and to be considerate.

What happens if I’m out of town?

We ask you to please try to find a friend or family member to pick up for you. We would love it if someone could be blessed with Fresh, Organically-Farmed produce that week! If you cannot find someone to pick up for you, please contact us in advance, and we will bring your share home and leave it on our front porch for you to pick up at your convenience (We, the Cochrans, live in Nashville.). Lastly, if you cannot find someone to pick up for you and you are unable to pick up from our front porch, contact us well in advance and we will try to work with you. Unclaimed shares will be forfeited.

What if there’s an emergency or I forget?

If you forget, contact us by 8pm on the day of your pick-up, and we will place your share on our front porch for you to pick up at your convenience. We understand that life happens. However, after 8pm on your pick-up day, we no longer hold your share. If you remember after 8pm or the next day, you can still try - we may still have your share, but there are no guarantees.  If we do not hear from you, your share will be forfeited.

Is your produce Certified Organic?

Currently, we are not certified organic. We strictly adhere to growing methods such that we remain certifiable. Our first fields were certified organic in 2004. Our remaining fields were certified in 2006. Some years we participate in the USDA program; other years we don’t, depending upon whether or not we intend to sell wholesale. We prefer to sell directly to CSA Members. In 2009, we took a survey of our CSA Members who unanimously agreed that as long as we continue to grow in accordance with the government standards, the certification itself is not important to them. We put a great deal of effort into growing ABOVE & BEYOND the government certification requirements.

Is all of Eco-Gardens CSA produce grown on your one family farm?

YES! ALL of the produce included in Eco-Gardens CSA is grown on the one farm shared by brothers Andrew and Reuben Habegger.
